I'm new here to the forum and wanted to share: I have been dealing with the same issue on my 2013 JKU Sahara for a couple years. I started noticing an oil leak and thought it was coming from the rear main seal and thus the torque converter was being compromised? However the oil leak was from the oil cooler and had been dripping directly down onto and around the Torque Converter. I swapped the oil cooler to the 2014 model, no more leak and now after a couple weeks, no more stall when shifting into reverse on cold start. This may not help or be the fix for everyone, but might be worth investigating. Mine was leaking from both sensors on the back side of the oil cooling unit.
