I am attempting to replace the factory radio in two JK wranglers. One is a 2012 and the other is a 2015. I have installation kits for both but no can-bus adapter. Has anyone replaced the factory radio without using one.

I didnt have anyluck with out an adapter - I used this one from metra and it hooked up to the can-bus no issues. I didnt want to spend the extra but n the end it made it so much easier.

You will 100% need a canbus for steering controls, and if you have premium sound.

I realize canbus is an annoying expense, but it really mates the radio to the jeep to maintain functionality.

Read before you buy. The head unit I linked includes the canbus. No added expense.

Give us a call. Our Sony Bundles are kitted and shipped pre-wired for an easy plug and play install. You'll retain all of your factory steering controls, wireless connection, Apple/ Android, etc...

I recently replaced the stock unit with this from Crutchfield…Super easy afternoon job:

A little pricey but I’ve had several Alpine products in the past and never had an issue and love the end result.
