I hear it after my JKU is nice and warm....not sure if this is ‘normal’ or something to be concerned about: 2013 @61k

Is there such thing as a dreaded 3.6 tick? I've never heard or experienced it.

That does sound like the lifters though. At only 61k that is a bit concerning.

Ya I’ve heard of it discussed on YouTube. Whether ithe ‘dreaded tick’ is a thing can be debated, I guess. But I’ve read that Jeep extended their engine warranty for the 12/13 JK’s for 10 years or 150k.

I was inquiring if that’s the sound they’re correcting. Guess I’ll see if anyone else has input. Like I stated, it’s usually after it’s thoroughly warmed up.

Where do you find the Jeep warranty on the engine? Never heard of it.
Not sure if it’s permitted to post a thread from a different forum. So @Chris, I apologize in advance if this is restricted? I simply Googled it after hearing from a friend who owns a 2017 JK that had issues with his 2017’s 3.6. Luckily for him, the dealer took care of his engine problem.

EDIT: yep, restricted. All good, I understand. @BlkGryWrangler you’ll have to Google it yourself. Sorry, as I cannot post it here.

You should be able to post the link. Is it giving you issues?

According to the Workshop Manual our 1960's Series II 88 model Land Rover engines were identical. One had a valve tick that no amount of lash adjustment could remove so eventually I gave up and let the otherwise almost silent engine do it's thing.

My 2012 JK has tappet noise on start-up but I ignore it because the analysis of the Amsoil oil says the wear metals is well within specs.

Just a thought.
