I have a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon Hard Rock 83,000 miles
Yesterday leaving work, I get in, start the Jeep and the "sway bar" light is flashing.
I turned the car off and back on, still flashing, I push the sway bar button nothing happens.
I put the car in reverse and the car jumped back quickly with a "clunk" kind of sound, same motion and sound when i put it in drive. The transmission won't shift, it feels like it is stuck in low lock 4 wheel drive, at this point the engine light comes on.
I left the car at work and got a ride home.

I can do some work on cars, but I'm not mechanically inclined.
Any thoughts on what this is before I take it to a repair shop.

Thank you.

Just out of curiousity, if the transmission is an automatic, something might have triggered the "limp home" mode. In limp mode the transimission stick in second, but Park, Neutral and Reverse should still work. Limp mode can be turned oiff according to the manual as follows:

"In the event of a momentary problem, the transmission
can be reset to regain all forward gears by performing the
following steps:
1. Stop the vehicle.
2. Shift the transmission into PARK.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK/OFF position.
4. Wait approximately 10 seconds.
5. Restart the engine.
6. Shift into the desired gear range. If the problem is no longer detected, the transmission will return to normal operation."

The manual then says that even if you can reset it, you should take it to a dealer. Since you say the check engine light came on, that is probably the best idea.

it is an automatic, the mechanic said that electric or computer system that control the transfer case is shot and the jeep is stuck in 4x4 low lock which is exactly how it felt when I tried driving it.
