in a moment of desperation I cut off the drag link end connected to the steering box because it wouldn’t come off and now I’m sitting here after two days trying to get this same piece off. Any ideas would be very helpful
Only real way I can see you being able to do it now would be to pull the pitman arm off the gear - or alternatively pull the gear of the frame, and manage it that way.
You may need some persuasion from a BFH, as well as a small amount of heat, as you're not going to get much leverage with the missing ball end (and you really don't want to whack the stud too hard as it will mushroom heavily and be a real PITA to get out).
So is the whole ball joint is still in the pitman arm? If so, did you remove the cotter pin and nut from the top of it and try a ball joint fork to get it out?
