Hood Guard Fitment Issues

Has anyone had fitment issues with bug/rock guards? I bought a Rugged Ridge model for my 2013 JKU and it cracked in the middle after a week. Some of the issue may have been the automotive tape but the alignment of the hood holes and latches seems off so there is a gap between the end of the hood and the guard. Seller was cooperative and swapped out the broken part for a new one but I fear that the alignment is the bigger issue. Any ideas?

I think the design is inherently flawed. A rock guard that doesn't cover the leading edge of the hood? You know, the part that needs protection the most?

That would explain why it cracked, if it wasn't installed correctly.

Now that makes more sense.

The leading edge was not wrapped over the front of the hood, therefore, it appears as though it was smashed down and now, after some water and air has gotten underneath... well, you know what you have now.
