Hi,

I'm looking at swapping out my stock headlights in my 06 JKU Sahara and so far the J.W. Speaker J2 or J3 are the front runners. I live in Massachusetts and it drops well below freezing regularly and im wondering if the heated option for the J3 is worth it. I've always used retrofit source for other vehicle updates, should i be looking at a jeep specific site?

I have a 1st Gen of JW Speakers on mine. I'm in Michigan and get a far amount of ice & snow. Only once have I had to pull over to clear the ice off and that was mostly to clear the wipers, too. I was concerned about ice buildup, but it really hasn't been an issue for me. I've also had great results with upgraded H4 lights using an adapter and Cibie glass and Osram bulbs. The pattern was great, the color temperature was perfect and all in was $130-$140. And no worries about icing, either. I didn't go up too high in wattage to tax the stock wiring but it was higher output than stock. Great set up, and my son's JK and my daughter-in-law's JK both have them.

As far as vendors, I've never used Clayton Off Road but they are are a sponsor of the site and @Chris and others speak highly of them. I've used Northridge 4x4 a fair amount and have had excellent service. I can't complain about Extreme Terrain or even Quadratec. I've never used Retrofit, so I can't compare. A vendor that specializes in Jeep parts will at least speak the language and probably even assist in steering you to an appropriate product for how you intend to use it. Much more critical for performance parts than aesthetic parts.
