A friend if mine (former Air Force guy I had in a class at the War College in Newport) asked me about the "haze grey and underway" thing. I explained that Navy ships are painted in a color called haze grey and all that. He couldn't understand how I could enjoy spending so much time at sea on a ship. I said, as much as I enjoy flying, I know for a fact there are a lot more airplanes in the ocean than there are ships in the sky.
