Really wanted a TJ Golden Eagle but this '08 JK SWB CRD (Sport -or 'X' in USA) popped up & could not resist.
Most of the YJ & TJ's were thrashed & modifications or after market upgrades needing attention. Some of them with no idea how they passed a safety slip for registration.
Former Landcruiser shorty BJ42LX lad, two of them over a few decades, with over a million clicks on each, surfin' & shaggin' wagons mainly but got us into some great breaks. Still have a soft spot for them but they're way out of my price range these days.
So let's see how the Jeep brand shapes up ... so far so good apart from the noisy gear/ shift stick head & weird noises coming from offside misaligned door panel or perhaps sealing strips. No evidence of being in a crash or light bingle. Controls all ass about (not assembled for a RHD) so I keep putting the wipers on when I need indicators etc. Definitely need some weather shields & first job off the rank will be a de-coke & remap although still doing 9.6's/100 (kilometers) which ain't too shoddy.
Might have to tackle the lack of comms & sat nav sooner than later. Great radio & CD player but some hands free (UConnect?) mobile telephony would be 21st century, go figure.
Looks like the Rubicons had all the bling & tech onboard, in the Sport were add ons.
Anyhows, tx for the + folks. OzBiker (Glenn)
