Gas loss of Power while Accelerating

Hello,

While driving & punching the gas, sometimes I would lose power for a couple of seconds. Once I let off the gas pedal & give gas again the car regains power instantly. Last weekend on the highway the car loss total power when punching the gas no matter that I let off the gas pedal & tried re-accelerating. The car did not respond to anything, which caused me to pull over. I attempted to restart the car a couple times, but it wouldn't kick over. While waiting for the tow truck, I later retried turning on the car & it started as normal. This was approximately 15min after the car shut off. This was the 1st time the car shutoff. The other occurrences in the past when I noticed loss of power, it has not frequent, since it doesn't happen multiple times when driving daily.

After my car shutoff I took it to a mechanic. The mechanic stated there were no error codes coming up when trying to diagnosis the issue. The mechanic did a throttle body relearn as the 1st step to diagnosing this issue. I am trying to narrow down the problem to avoid having this issue occur again so I appreciate your input with solving this issue.

Thank you for your help!

That last 2 that had that problem were a 2014. Just cut the underhood insulation so it doesn't lay across the top of the air intake for the air filter.

Here's the last one that had the same problem.

Any luck fixing it?
Hello,

Sorry for the late response. I installed a new cold air filter to avoid the insulation being so close. I also replaced the gas pedal and the throttle body. I am still having the same issue occur. I am able to drive on highway at 60mph max but there are times it shuts off. After I wait for 5 min the car starts back up. There is no check engine code coming up.

Is there anything else you can think of?

My guess it's something electrical then because when it cools off it'll run again. When it shuts off does is your dash all lit up like a Christmas tree?
