Flopping rear seat?

Just became a 2008 Jeep 2 door jk owner. Lots of questions ! I folded down my rear seat. Then when I took the Jeep out for a drive I thought something was broken in the drive train ? When I took off hard there was a huge thump like some thing hit the bottom of the jeep. Then when I hard stopped another huge thump ? I though, great, I just bought a Jeep with drive train problems ! Anyway, I soon realized it was the rear seat flopping forward and then backward ! LOL, SO, I have discovered that when the rear seat is folded down it becomes unlatched from the floor latches ? And, I see no way to hold the seat down when it’s in the fold down position. So, my question is. Is this normal ??

My 07 has 2 bars under the seat that have to be squeezed together to unlatch the back hinges to remove the rear seat. Perhaps they are stuck open on yours. Took mine out years ago for extra room
 
I think there was some cables on the rear hinges. Chased them down and found the bars. Took about 4 beers to find 🍺

Took mine out the day I brought it home new from the dealership. Have them in the basement by the wood stove. Doggy likes it in the winter.

EDIT: I was going to remove my back seat too, but wanted some secure storage. Began making one like this (not mine), but it met an unfortunate accident. Starting over...
