Hello-I'm new here. I have a 2012 Rubincon, 2D with power door locks. I recently noticed after exiting driver side that the door would lock and I would have to use unlock on fob to unlock it to enter. After investigating this, I found it is a locking when I exit due to the door lock lever hanging up on the door open lever so that when the open lever springs back into normal position it drags the lock lever in to the lock position. It is probably an easy fix and I have not taken anything apart yet so thought I would check here to see if anyone else has had this problem. I suspect it is the handle/lock assembly which maybe it can be McGivered to work properly again or just replace? Thanks

I felt summoned.
That being said, I'm trying to picture what is going on here given your description. My JK is a four door, but your doors are the same as my front ones...
So the inner handle is sticking to the lock? They are that tight? or a soda or something else is causing them to stick together? First thing I would do would be to clean between the two.

Sorry to botch the spelling of your name Mr MacGuyver. It seems to be a mechanical issue. The lock lever of course is right above the exit lever. When the door unlock is commanded it does move the lock/unlock lever to the unlock position although I notice it does not move outward as much as the pass side lock lever. So when you stop the Jeep it automatically unlocks the doors as it should. When you pull the door open lever, it binds enough with the lock lever so that when you release the door lever it drags the lock lever inward so that the door is locked. Hope that clears it up. Like I said, I havent taken it apart and I am a fair mechanic but just curious if anyone else has seen this. Thanks for your reply.

I would look up a video about taking off the door panel. This should give you a decent idea what may be the issue. Should be just a couple of screws to get where you need to.
Hey -Problem solved. If you have ever had door panel off and the door /lock lever assembly you would notice there is a 3" long shaft about the diameter of a 16d nail. Some how this got bent or was bent and worked its way into a position that was causing the door latch lever to bind with the lock lever. I removed it, drilled it out for #10 screw, reassembled with some grease and nylon lock nut. Works great, costs nothing except 1 hour of my life clock.
