Can the switch be replaced ?

I don't know what year yours is but one for my JK is available. Also there are write ups about disabling the switch.

You could also put a pushbutton switch in that goes to the starter, that would bypass the safety switch also. Just hide it somewhere and it would be a good anti-theft switch.
