2010 Jeep Wrangler Sahara: New battery, new alternator and car wouldn't charge. Put an external VR and idles at 14V but revs at 17V so still not driveable. Any suggestions please.

The regulator is grounded to the frame, I will try changing the ground.If you put a external regulator on the case of the regulator has to be grounded good, I always like to run a ground wire from a case screw to the alternator case. If it's not grounded good it will overcharge.

I have this regulator. The alternator is not attached to the ecm any longerThis is the Regulator I use for my Dodges (Chrysler) it says you might need a Modified Driver. Whatever that is but it says to contact them to find out.
