Best storage containers and straps for roof rack?

I have a flat Rhino rack. What are some good cheap storage containers and straps or clamps for mounting things aloft? Would definitely consider something surplus.

I recently purchased a few bins from Home Depot. Costco has the same ones, BTW.
They are black with yellow lids.
They have secure lids w/ slots that allow you to add a padlock (long version) and run ratchet straps through the lid and tub.
I buy a new set of ratchet straps every couple years. The latest set came from Home Depot.

I use the black and blue Hart totes from Walmart. They have a weather strip on the lid to keep water out. There's spots for pad locks and grooves for straps. I use cinch/lashing straps to hold them down. I have lots of cinch/lashing straps because I kayak alot. You can use ratchet straps too.
