looking for some help on an issue that I am having with my 2016 wrangler, I just bought her two weeks ago, she was on the dealer lot since about October.

It is an automatic. Just this past week I have started her up for a good 10 or so minutes in the morning, put it into reverse ..low idles and then stalls and am able to start back up again. This only happens first in the morning any other time reversing is completely fine. I also noticed that the transmission temp is about 175 degrees when I'm about to reverse and as I am reversing it as it's low idling it drops down to 80 degrees..not sure if this has anything to do with the issue. Also some mornings she just low idles and does not stall in reverse. Took her to the dealership they cannot replicate the issue and no codes show up. Any one have a clue? Thank you!

How do you know what the transmission temp is does it have a display for that?

175 is awful high for just running a few minutes. What is the temperature outside when this happens?

Did you or the Dealer check the trans fluid level?

Yes there is a display for the trans temperature..right now here in CT the temp outside in the morning is anywhere from 39-45 degrees

Yes and they said it was fine

Did you tell the Dealer about the temperature changes?

You might take and clean your battery clamps and cable ends terminals and any other grounds you can find.

Even 80 degrees for a transmission temp sounds high for the temp outside and just idling. If the ECM reads the trans temp maybe it's telling the engine to do something. Could be a faulty temp sensor causing the problem.

If it was my Jeep i'd take it to a transmission shop and tell them what it's doing and maybe they have seen the problem before.
