Ugh! I have a problem with my 2008 Jeep Sahara 4WD - It's this ...

When opening the driver's door, the INSTRUMENT CLUSTER gages are blank and the dome light won't come on. When I put the ignition key in, the Jeep starts but the instrument panel won't light up and it won't go into gear. NOW, when I pop the negative side of the battery and then reconnect, OR I pull the IOD fuse (off draw -fuse) everything resets, and my Jeep starts up - and the instrumental panel lights right up. No issue. I also have a super chip program with a scanner and the code that appears is UO155 - CAN-BUS failure to communicate. I've pulled the instrument panel off and I've cleaned it with an electric cleaner and I STILL have the same issue. Any ideas???? I've called the dealership(s) and the INSTRUMENT CLUSTER I MIGHT need isn't available until July. I keep thinking it's a simple fix! Thanks in advance ....

Try replacing your key FOB batteries.

Then if that doesn't work clean your battery cables and grounds.

Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connectors. Check for damaged components and look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector's pins. Also, check the instrument cluster mother board for solder cracks. Any hair line crack has the potential to cause a break in communication with the TIPM. If all is well, then it looks like a new cluster in your future.
