We're running the Washington BDR in July after a week on Vancouver Island. Wife wanted a rooftop tent and I found a decent deal on a Tuff Stuff Trailhead tent that allegedly weighs around 150 lbs. Here's the problem...just about every roof rack I see available has a weight capacity of 150 to 300 lbs. Subtract the weight of the tent and two people and two dogs...nope... So... anyone know of a manufacturer that makes a light weight minimalistic rack that can actually hold weight? And by minimalistic I mean it holds the tent up. No lights. Shovel. Hi lift jack. Recovery boards. Gas cans. Just a simple no frills rack. And it appears all racks either tie to the rear bumper or frame and two spots on the windshield. Is the limiting factor for weight those two mounting spots or the use of small, thin wall tubing? Thinking of buying a Rogue Fab bender and rolling my own. I can buy better tubing and a bender for the cost of some of those expensive racks. -Mac
