Hi all,

Brand new first post here so go easy if I’m unintentionally skirting any rules here.

Little about my relationship to jeeps in general. We (wife, child and myself) currently have a 21 Grand Cherokee L we bought brand new. Prior to that we had a 18 GC and we love the drivetrain however we hate the monthly payment so with any luck we’re trading it in tomorrow and that will be done.

We are looking to pay cash for something and still want the jeep brand so we’ve pretty much settled on this> https://www.tradeinsolutionsretail....ort--4x4-suv-ebf21fe0cd934c4daaa44dd9c115876e

Budget is tight and this is pushing it but based on what I see on the CARFAX it really seems to be the best option overall. I’m told it wasn’t off-road. It was bought for a guys daughter and he garaged it when she left for college so he traded it in for a Porsche after she graduated and no longer wanted the vehicle. Looks like maintenance has been consistent.

I guess my long winded question is if you were me would you be worried about the purchase?? Does anything not give you the warm and fuzzies about this ride?

Thanks all

Welcome. Looks like a nice ride at a decent price considering it's from a dealer. Just throwing out an idea for you. When I bought mine I negotiated with the selling dealer to have both compression and leak down test completed as a part of the sale contingency.

The 3.6 has several notable issues that you will hear/read about if you do any amount of research. 1) Cylinder head valve seat recession - primarily on the driver's side head. 2) Cam/lifter wear

Compression and leak down are good general engine-health tests and the leak-down in particular will assess if there is any existing cylinder leakage, such as valve seat recession (see #1 above).

The cam and lifter issue is harder to assess unless you hear a lot of ticking when you listen to the engine. If you do, walk away. Look up some YT videos if you want to hear what that sounds like, lots of them out there.
