Hi, anyone with experience dealing with this code, P0430? Solutions that you've found?

Mine is '16, with 73k miles

  • The P0430 code stands for “Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2).”
  • This trouble code is triggered when the computer detects a problem with the catalytic converter mounted near engine bank 2.
  • A faulty catalytic converter, damaged O2 sensor, wiring issues, and exhaust leaks are the most common reasons why the on-board computer can log a P0430.

Did you get this because you put new Cats on? Or did this just pop up, it would be the Downstream O2's?

Hi BLACKJKU, just bought this weeks ago, 2nd owner. I assume cats are original. It popped up while driving away from PO :(
Seems to run perfectly. Can't pass NJ inspection as-is

And you added it when the tank was 1/4 tank left, drove it for 20 miles then added a full tank of gas?

Take 10 minutes, roll your front wheel up on a curb and crawl under it. Look at the cats - are they old or new. If they're the OEM, it's probably time to change ALL four of the O2 sensors.

Cats look original. Hmm...all 4 sensors, only code says it's one bank, think it's B side

Posted this on the other thread asking about P0420 and P0430:

One of the issues that will also trigger a P0430 is either a high or low voltage to the sensor. And, while this hasn't been mentioned yet, it's easy to check the wiring harness and connectors.
My JKU just had the top of the engine rebuilt with new lifters and cams, oil cooler, axle seals, differential gaskets, and a few other deferred maintenance items, etc. When the work was completed, it threw the code on its initial test drive. Checked the entire wiring harness, and double checked the sensor connections. Hooked it up to the shop scanner and let her run for a bit. Code cleared, then we went back and looked at the code history and the P0430 last showed up when I replaced the battery late last year. Once it cleared, probably after the ECM relearned everything, it's not been back.

Looked underneath, cats don't look new and the 4 sensors appear to be same age and not new,
