My jeep is overheating. I have replaced the thermostat and housing. I bypassed the heater core. I’m losing water somewhere but there is no evidence of fluid leaking anywhere. Suggestions?

Did you burp all the air out by jacking the front up about 6" with the cap off and engine running, filling as coolant drops down?

If you had a big air pocket in it that will cause it to overheat and also be low on coolant.

What year is your Jeep?

No sir, I did not jack it up. 2014 rubicon

Jack up the nose. Burp the system. Test the coolant for combustion products to rule out things like a blown headgasket.

So, it has pure water in it right now. No strange smell nor is there water on the dipstick. I will raise the front end this evening and add as needed.

Great. And then test the coolant for combustion products to rule out things like a blown head gasket. The eyeball tests don't do that.

Change, jacked up the front end and added water. Took off the cap to check the level and all kinds of muck came out killed the engine and checked the oil. Brown and milky. Wasn’t like that before. I can only assume that by burping, more water was added and forced a clog loose. Going to order head gaskets and take the heads to a shop to get them checked. More to follow. Thanks for everyone’s input.

Adding more water and burping wouldn't have made it do that, your problem sounds like head gaskets.

Probably why it was overheating.

Great answer blk...instead of using a jack I usually ride up a high curb

Unless it wasn't completely filled including the block..a jeep wrangler radiator is very confusing because when you open the cap there is plastic there which is a part of the radiator you must look inside the hole and to the right to see the actual amount of antifreeze in their..I try too send you a picture
