Were H4 light bulbs ever standard?

My headlight burned out. I thought it was a simple enough fix, went and grabed a pair of new bulbs H13 (9008 on the package) and... well frig the plug is different. Its an H4 plug... and the ground wire melted in the housing.. oof

So I have to redo the harness anyway.. I was wondering if this was stock or someone's upgrade. Its a Delta Quad-Bar assembly so I know that is atleast aftermarket. If I keep the H4 hardness is there anything to look into to make sure it was done correctly? The Delta's have an additional LED plug, and another set of wires for the halo.. which the jeep doesn't seem to have a connector for.. So it looks like this wasn't done well already.

Should I just spring for some new LED harnesses instead?

EDIT: Despite being in the US of A. The jeep itself was made and imported from canada. If that changes anything. Besides a few wonky Celsius and KM bobs on the dash, I have yet to notice anything that differed.

Look closely at your harness. There may be a short adapter harness installed. Most H4 bulb sellers include them in their kits.

I'll take a look. When I was digging around the wires went into the normal wrapped harness, but they could have been a bit more proffesional with their wiring. Certainly wasn't an extra foot of wire in there.

Hey adamis, so if the ground wire is fried you have some sort of electrical issue putting in the new eyeball may burn it out again sounds like too me it was an upgrade at some point .you may need a new anti flicker harness with the ballast between the plugs...I will post pictures shortly

So my 2008 j/k is running H13 with the halos and the anti flicker with ballast

Aha. good to know. I dug into the loom a little more and as luck has it, the h13 connector was still in there. This was just an adaptor. I presume the other side is the same way. So lucky for me no need to get fancy crimping new connectors! I assume a straight h13 to h4 connector with ballast for LEDs will do fine now after I order some up.

Awesome brother glad I was of some help also at each connector wrap them in electrical tape sometimes they come loose at the plug ins and cause flickering especially if your off road or on bumpy roads...good luck
