I just purchased my first Jeep. It is a 2010 Wrangler Unlimited Sahara Edition. I couldn't be more excited to learn all about Jeeps. First off, it has 37's on it and i know there is a lift kit on it. Question #1, how do you know how big the lift is? I am a average man at 6'1" and the seat hits me in the hip when i stand next to it. I am pondering downsizing to 33's for wheels and tires, but i like the stance with the 37's. Will i be able to achieve the same stance with the 33's?

It should sit approx 2" lower with 33's, this is how to figure your lift.

Welcome!

Thanks for the responses. I do like my new ride. I just wish i had the spec sheet for it like when you buy something new. When i bought it, i knew nothing about it and still don't for the most part. I want to pair my phone with the stereo using the bluetooth to play music, but i think it is just old enough to not be available at the time when the jeep was made.

You can buy a Bluetooth adapter through Amazon that plugs into your power plug to play music and answer calls through your stock system if u choose. Works through a silent fm station. Got one myself. Tons of upgrade options that the other guys are very knowledgeable about if you’re thinking of going that route. 🍺🍺

JK Newbie,
Do you know what differential gears are in your Jeep? Downsizing from 37's to 33's will increase your engine rpm's for a given speed. If the previous owner installed gearing to match the tire size increase, you may not like the extra rpm's the Jeep will be running at while at highway speeds. If the Jeep still has the stock gearing then it should be ok.

I have no idea what the gear ratio is. Is there a way to tell?
Lift the rear end off the ground. Use chalk or whatever to make a mark on your driveshaft. Spin a tire through one rotation and count how many rotations your drive shaft makes. Your gearing is driveshaft rotations:tire rotations.

That only tells you what the factory put in, not necessarily what's in there now. If it's on 37's, there's a reasonably good chance that it's been regeared.

He asked form the spec sheet for when it was made not specifically for the gearing is the reason I gave him that info.

Congratulations! Are you planning to use it for camping or long trips? I saw a lot of great upgrades for Jeeps on this forum!

The owner of the Jeep took the fenders off to make it look tough. Ride height is no more than 24 inches to the bottom of the from bumper. I’m at 27
