Tire / rubber shortage?

After much research and debate on load ratings and tire brands, I decided on the Cooper Discovered STT Pro. Last week I almost pulled the trigger on a set but waited. By midweek, May 14th, it was too late. All 315/70R17’s where sold out across the country! According to Google searches, there’s a rubber shortage that’s been slowing brewing. Can’t even find a load D 35” MT Baja Boss. The last set I saw available was through SummitRacing on Thursday. Friday morning, they were gone. Nowhere to be found. Anywhere.

Above stated, has anyone had issues finding a specific tire brand or size?

To bad you wasn't closer I have 2 35/70r/17 MT Baha's with about 500 miles on them 3 35's not real good tread on 5 nice 17" rims.

Even so, I’d purchase a set of the D rated Baja Boss MT’s but those too are completely sold out nationally. Not the metric one’s, but the actual 35x12.5R17’s.

EDIT: just noticed that 4wheelparts raised their price on the metric one’s 🤯

Sounds like a repeat from last year I couldn't get tires for my Motorhome until March of this year. Michelin had shut down production of the size tire I needed.

Holy hell! I really don’t expect that from Mickey Thompson with a common, popular size. Same with Cooper. But weird times, so who the f$&k knows!? Guess anything is possible these days. Just would hate to settle on a tire that I didn’t want.
