Does anyone have a Seicane Android 10 10.1 inch radio?

Hello fellow jeepers. I have recently installed a Seicane radio and have ran into some troubles of course. Was wondering if someone has installed this radio as well? Currently dealing with my factory sub not working and the system isn't allowing me to use Android auto.

My first guess would be the steering wheel adapter. Even if you have an early JK and don't have steering wheel controls the sub woofer is not a direct connect so an adapter is required for it to work. Crutchfield has a webtool that will show you what you need.

Well I have the controls for volume and to skip tracks on the steering wheel. But I get what you are saying. I just don't know if crutchfield has a specific harness that connects to the aftermarket radio...

What year wrangler do you have? Also, do you mean that the steering wheel controls work right now or just that your jeep has them, but they don't currently work?

I have a 2012 Sahara unlimited. The controls work fine. But when I turn up the volume, there's no bass from the sub to pick up, so it's having my others speakers produce a lot of sound to the point of distortion.

Ok, just looked up your stereo... a tempting upgrade. I see it comes with a canbus adapter, at least the one that popped up. Full kit, to include the dash surrounds.

My guess continues to be what I mentioned because of the way wrangler sub and amps connect. I needed an adapter on my 2009 for a kenwood to properly work even though I don't have steering controls.

I do see that there is a built in amp in the system. That could be the source of your distortion. I wonder if there is a setting to bypass the internal amp that would then allow your canbus to talk to the wranglers amp.

Ya

Ya, it was roughly $500. There is a option to mess with the canbus. And there is an option that says with amp or without. Not sure whether that depletes the radios amp or the stock amp?

if you have a sub in the jeep you have an amp. Regardless I would suggest turning that to the other option from the current choice. Worst that could happen is that it works less than now and you just switch it back.

True. I did message the company about my problems. Just asking around for possible quick solutions. I appreciate your guidance. I'll give an update once I do switch it.

So, I went ahead and changed the canbus setting and it seemed I got a little more out of it, but not a lot. Not sure if the sub is blown or what. May have to open it up and look at it. I don't if deleting the canbus would solve any of my problems?

So I've come to the conclusion this system just has too many issues with it, and I don't feel like taking the time to toy around with it.

I was looking for quite a long time at the 10.1/10.2 Android screen radio HU's but they don't make for the 1st gen 2007-2010 JK. Only the 2011-2018's had any real choices of large screen displays available. Some of the makers are crazy what they want for their HU's, one company comes to mind that markets specifically to the Jeep crowd for well over the $1,000 mark!

Not happening.

I have the nav and sat screen factory HD HU already anyhow but I wanted a larger screen with Android & CarPlay features.

Ended up 3D printing a holder for the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 tab, loading apps that mimic Android Auto etc. using Winamp for android and other solutions with it jacked into the auxiliary on the factory Nav HU. Works nicely, can use Mirror-Link and still gives me a decent screen. I can use the iPad that we have if I want the apple CarPlay instead and it works fairly good too. Keeps all the speakers, etc working but enables full Android mobile maps and or CarPlay similar features plus will sync to the bluetooth on the phones for hands free and streaming A/V. A lot cheaper than actually changing the factory stereo stuff and works excellent off-road too. It just takes time to find and play with all the apps so you can select the ones you like. It also gave me the widgets for climb, altimeter and off-camber angle finders.

The open source nature of Android can really be a pain. I can understand being fed up with trying to figure it out.

I'm curious if the settings for the canbus are physical ones on it or software that you access through the head unit. Regardless I'm sure the issue is with the canbus or settings. The strange way the amp is integrated into the jeep is a pain.

Let us know if you ever get it working.

There are settings you can adjust under "Factory Settings" and just a few things, but overall, it just doesn't appeal to me enough to keep it.

1) It said it came standard with Android Auto. But I quickly found out, you have to send Seicane a QR code and pay a $6 fee. Which isn't much, but that isn't the point. And with the time difference, it just takes too long and I don't have much patience for it.

2) Almost every other time you start the Jeep, the audio will be cut out and the only way I found to deal with it is changing the canbus settings, that doesn't change the overall operation, but it allows the radio to reboot.

3) The dash pieces that come with it don't line up 100%. Which wouldnt be a big deal if the head unit worked as it should.

So in turn, Im just looking to return and get a refund. And look at different units instead. Sure, it won't be a big fancy screen, but everything that I would want to work, will work. Unfortunately I made a impulse buy, rather than doing my research first. Should've known better lol

Ok, cool. I was concerned you were just going to live with it. Just stick with Kenwood or whatever. You have to buy the canbus separate but you get a quality product that has been QA tested.

I wish the android systems were reliable, but from what I've heard you need to be willing to put excess time into getting them usable, and then there is a 1 in 50 chance that something doesn't work right when you start the vehicle.

Start a new thread and list the features that are important to you, you will get a number of suggestions.

Thank you. I appreciate it. Hope I was helpful in some of your curiosity into the unit. I'll probably go with crutchfield. Seems like they'll have all the hookups and units I would want.

Do you have any photo?
How is the glare on the tablet?
I have to take some of it so not at the moment. It sits above the factory radio, not in front like some kits do. I am still considering other options on position. Glare can be an issue at times, looking for a flat matte screen protector to help eliminate some of it. Mostly, it's pretty good though.

I am working on printing one for the iPad we have also so I can swap between the two and see which one I like best.

On another note sound system related:
I keep playing with the sound system in the Jeep cause I really don't like the audio quality of the SiriusXM. It sounds like the sampling rate and compression on factory MOPAR radios is terribly compressed or low bit-rate. Almost makes me want to cancel my sat service because it sounds so terrible.

Do any of you who subscribe and have active SiriusXM receivers in your JKUR notice this? I went to the dealer and sat in several different year JK's that had SiriusXM trial running, they all seemed to have sub-par sound when on SAT Receive. Just wondering if there is anything up with that?

My Honda Odyssey doesn't sound anywhere near that aweful. It has a Sony HU with the SiriusXM add-on receiver.

I have a higher line Sony HU in my GMC Duramax truck but I use the portable Onyx SiriusXM receiver in it. It sounds terrible too, again like the bit-rate sampling is low etc. I need to compare to the streaming app. on that HU and see if it sounds better over Wi-Fi/Cellular data. If it does, I am going to call SiriusXM and raise serious Kaine over the quality. It has been bugging me for YEARS and I don't want to put up with it anymore!

Just to make sure I wasn't crazy, I jacked in my iPod classic 5.5 Gen that I have updated to 1Tb SSD storage, It has the Burr-Brown D to A converters in it. It doesn't sound anywhere near as bad as SAT does. The over-air terrestrial receive sounds fine on all my receivers, even the HD radio which doesn't sound as good as analog unless you're in the fringe areas then there's no static but it can just cut out if the signal gets too weak.

Sorry, not trying to hijack the thread but wondering about everyone and their different ways of getting their tunes.

Don’t have XM in my Jeep but the sound quality in my wife’s Escape on XM is horrible . Sounds like a low bit rate mp3.
