I just bought a 2016 jk with 35,000 miles. No problems with it. I know about the radiator / heater core problems. Thinking about taking it to the dealer for a coolant FLUSH to head off Any problems. Good idea? Thanks for any comments.

There is a common radiator / heater core problem? That is new to me, I think you read this rumor from the internet. What made you think you need a flush? Does it looks like this now?

A coolant flush is always a good idea, especially when the vehicle has higher miles, or you have no record of when the cooling system was last flushed.

Open the radiator cap and post a picture of the coolant. You can tell usually just by looking at the coolant if it's in need of a flush or not.

35k miles is low, but being as though it's 4 years old, it certainly wouldn't hurt to flush the coolant, just so you have a personal record of when it was done last (if I had to guess, it's never been done before on your JK).

Thanks, I will. I took the cap off yesterday and there was a very thin film of something....sludge or sand from casting around the inside of radiator neck. Coolant looked good.

I was on the road to Texas and need to top off my OAT coolant and is hard to find that type and so, I poured half gallon of distilled water from Walmart. That was a year ago, now this reminds me I need to flush mine.
