Going for the fenderless look

I recently took my fender flares off because I look the look my jeep has without them. I noticed in the front there's a small metal panel that sticks out on the driver and passenger side. I can't seem to find any apparent way to remove them and I've seen plenty of jeeps without them. Is there some kind of way to remove them that I'm not seeing?

Ohhh, I think the only way to get the fenderless look without the fenders is something like this:


I know they are "stubby" fenders, but without something there, you're going to have to contend with those ugly holes.

They also make "fender deletes", such as this one:
