It's a protective guard that keeps crud and small debris from getting up in there. If you don't go off road much, than you'll be fine taking it off. But if you do, leave it, it's saved me several times when I go through the brush.

I also went with the 6 panel overhead. Mine got the volt Guage so I can keep an eye on things. Easy install and includes under hood relay box

A company on ebay or Amazon sells a "Gap filler kit" but the 1.25 gap is so minor, I didn't see a need for it.

Delete it. Looks better imo, especially if you increased tire size. Than it just looks dumb back there unless your spare matches. And the weight loss is good. I love my delete kit.
