‘No power until I press the brake pedal’ is for sure a symptom of a ground issue. Even if a ground ‘looks fine’, remove, clean with sand paper, reinstall. Bet you fix your ride without spending any more $$

Can’t help much, except to say nothing OEM has handwritten notes on it. Don’t let that loose wire distract you, it’s not the issue. Plus factory wiring is secured in OE tubing.
