    When to replace trail-damaged tires

Went with the Yokohama Geolandar MTs. Since it's already summer in Phoenix (104 yesterday!), we drove up to Crown King and camped near Horsethief Basin Recreation area. Did some mild offroading, but nothing to seriously test them. The Geolandars seemed quite a bit quieter on the highway...

    When to replace trail-damaged tires

I have no complaints with the BFGs I have now, though like I said, I'm new to this so these are literally the only tire I've offroaded with! For my next set, I was thinking either the Falken Wildpeak MT or Yokohama Geolandar MT and leaning towards the Yokohama. Though now I see the Geolandars...

    When to replace trail-damaged tires

No, very little spinning on rocks. I think the damage is primarily from just slow cruising along Arizona trails, which tend to be made up primarily of small, sharp, pointy rocks. It's a stock 2012 Rubicon, 32s and no lift, so I often find myself riding the tires up on the sides of ruts to...

    When to replace trail-damaged tires

I bought the Jeep just before Thanksgiving 2025. The tires had good tread depth and no damage. (pic fresh1, attached) I'm using it for why I bought it, and now, a bit over three months later, the tires still have pretty good tread depth but are showing some damage (no sidewall damage, just...

Post-off roading preventive inspection / maintenance

Assuming diligence with respect to Jeep's recommended maintenance schedule, what are additional inspections and maintenance that it would be wise to do to a vehicle driven off road? In my head I'm thinking of the following categories: 1) Immediate inspections post-wheeling to make sure nothing...

    JK/JL bumper compatibility

Quadratec has front and rears specifically for the JK. Not sure if there are less expensive options out there, but they sure do look nice.

Over-revved engine: what have I (potentially) done?

Noted! I'll be adding this to the maintenance schedule... *scribbles into the margins of the owners manual* Regarding a rev limiter, it didn't sound like it was bouncing off anything, and I would expect any rev limiter kick in before 7000 rpm since redline is something like 6400 I think. But...

Over-revved engine: what have I (potentially) done?

Yeah, I did try to replicate the issue, so far without success. We do have those chunky rubber floor mats, so I could see the pedal getting stuck, but it's really just a guess at this point.

Over-revved engine: what have I (potentially) done?

The vehicle is a new-to-me 2012 JK, 42000 miles, 3.6, manual, good service records according to Carfax. I was driving, almost home, and mashed the accelerator pedal to the floor, and when I let off the pedal...it just kept on accelerating! It happened very fast, so I'm not sure exactly what...

    Hello From Phoenix, AZ

I'll check out that book. I'm currently using OnX to find suitable trails, so it will be good to have an actual book to look through as well. Did a couple trails this past weekend that OnX has rated as 3/10. It's been fun to feel from the driver's seat what the Jeep can do and make seem easy!

    Hello From Phoenix, AZ

Thanks for the tip about the TJ forum and planned rides. (y) Bleu Belle is a nice looking Jeep. I'm an 80s kid, so square headlights have some nostalgia for me:cool: Yeah, I'm finding the amount of trails out here in AZ is amazing, should keep me busy for a while! Recently found out about...

    Hello From Phoenix, AZ

New to the forum and Wranglers (owned an '87 and '88 XJ back in the day). Been looking for a bit, and contemplated a YJ or TJ (even posted in the YJ forum about that), but ultimately went with a 2012 Rubicon, 41000 miles, manual, all stock as far as I can tell. I'm new to off-roading in...
