2016 wrangler jk, 158k miles. Should I get OEM mopar, the Dorman aluminum, or the fel pro aluminum one from rockauto?

You'll get varied opinions on this. My plan is to get the OEM again if/when needed, which has had some improvements over time. My 2016 has 79k currently. Is this the original housing on yours? If so, 158k is pretty darn good, imo.

I’m not even sure it’s OEM. I just bought this jeep two months ago lol. From a Jeep dealership. It was a 1 owner and always serviced by two different Jeep dealerships. There’s a fel pro oil cooling housing on rockauto for around $165. I think the housing is manufactured by DRiV/tennneco. I don’t see many reviews on it, it looks like it’s new by fel pro. There’s 3 reviews on Amazon and each is 5 stars. The fel pro assembly also includes the sensors.

The part number is FEL-PRO OFHA1001

I just replaced mine. 2016 with 81k. Wasn’t leaking bad but was seeping a little from the rear most oring. I ended up deciding to go with OE Mopar. A little over $200 with shipping. Also replaced the oil pressure sensor and the coolant hose. Probably overkill. Reused the oil temp sensor. My original oil cooler had the older figure 8 seals not the newer seals. That said, they weren’t leaking.

I use a Baxter oil filter adapter. Decided to go back with OE Mopar. Working great so far

Where did you buy the housing? The latest mopar one doesn’t include the sensors?

Correct. I had to buy the pressure sensor and the coolant hose separately. I reused the oil temp sensor. I think it used to come with new sensors but it doesn’t any more.

I purchased the cooler from Mopar Parts Giant. I bought part number 68596317AB.

I replaced the pressure sensor because of the time to get it out. It wasn’t hard at all. But it took a couple hrs from start to finish. I also replaced the PCV valve at the same time. It took longer to get the PCV valve out with the OE T25 screws than to get the oil cooler out. Using new bolts instead of the T25 screws simplified the install of the new PCV valve and it went in pretty quickly. Next one will be much easier thanks to those bolts.

Here’s my thread on it
