After 4 straight days of rain in central and eastern NC, this is what my small town of Nashville, NC looked like yesterday afternoon. It took me almost an hour to get home with only 3 different roads to access the one road my neighborhood is off, my first 2 attempts on different routes were blocked by state troopers and barricades. The 3rd and final, last way to get home took a 30 minute detour where I was met with a set of barricades, but no troopers. I went around and about a mile down the road, the water was only half way across, so I was able to get home. Immediately called the wife and told her which way to come and not waste any time before the water covered the road at that point. It receded a little overnight, and we got a 48-hour respite from the rain, but it's supposed to start again tonite. We'll see.
I was able to get to work this morning, but the road to my office had 3 low spots and the standing water was up to the axles.
