Trouble Installing Rancho RS5000 Shocks

I am having trouble getting the upper urethane bushing into the shock. Not sure if I should install the urethane bushing and then the bar where the shock mounts at the top. I was afraid to install the bushing and then force the metal piece into the bushing for fear that it would rip the bushing.

I have included a picture and this is all the farther I can get it to go into the top mount hole. Not sure why these aren't installed prior to them shipping.

Install the bushing, then the bar. What are you lubricating it with?

I am using a spray penetrating oil.

Wrong stuff. You want a silicon or lithium based product. Penetrating oil is more for breaking rust loose than lubrication. I'm assuming there's no rust on your new shocks and rubber bushings.

I am heading to get silicone lubricant as soon as I am done with work.

Although penetration is 9/10 of the law, it obviously does not apply to shock absorber bushings.
