Reprogram manual wrangler computer without regearing?

I recently bought a AEV Procal to fix the speedo after getting bigger tires. I noticed that one of the other features is to chance the gear ratio on the computer. I looked into it and learned that you usually do this after regearing. I know this can damage a automatic jeep but how would reprogramming the gear ratios without actually regearing affect a manual jeep?

On a manual it won't do anything at all since the shift points aren't controlled by RPMs, they're controlled by you.
