I have recently picked up a 2016 Jeep Wrangler Willys Unlimited. 80k miles Sarge Green. I love it so far even with its quirks. I am learning a little more each time something happens. I have worked on other vehicles and done light work on autos for a while. I am looking forward to wrneching on this .

Things i like:
Its a Jeep!
4wd
can strip the top and doors off.

Things i dont like:
its only a V6... but i dont really know thathaving anything else would be better
gas mileage, it sucks gas, even though its only a v6!?!
I cant find off road places near des moines, iowa (i am new here)
confined engine bay.
confusing aftermarket arena. There is almost too much and its hard to know where to start.

Overall, I look forward to learning more about it. I cant wait to wrnech and off road her!

Welcome, don't be shy about asking questions. As JK's go, the 3.6 has enough oomph (it IS a Jeep). Check around for Jeep clubs in your area or search the UFWDA website to hook up with local folks. ;)

It's a Jeep. Torque is more important than power.

It's a Jeep, but has all the aerodynamic qualities of a

So, you'll learn to accept the gas mileage. And appreciate all the times you can go downhill with a tailwind and try to make up for some of it.

I've been in Iowa a couple times and, from what I remember, the tallest point in the state was a prairie dog mound in some guy's corn field. So, yeah, I'm thinking you'll need to expand your horizons a little to find some trails with, you know, hills and stuff.

Seriously, your first purchase should be an OBD dongle and get the JScan app. This will allow you to see real time engine performance data as well as diagnose minor issues as they occur without having to find a worthy garage or dealership to take your money.

Milage is a lot more than engine size. Driven the way your mother would want you to drive, my 800+ HP Corvette can get 32MPG. Why? Gearing, and aerodynamics. Your 290HP V6 is pushing around a vehicle that weighs over 4,000 pounds and has the aerodynamic properties of a barn. If any modifications have been done, there is a very good chance that the mileage has gone down.

There's more room in the Wrangler engine bay than in most vehicles...

There's no such thing as too many options. One of the main reasons Wranglers are so easy and affordable to modify is the amount of competition for your dollar.
