Wondering what the best option is for and engine rebuild kit for 2011 Jeep Wrangler?

While the 3.8 may not be the most favorite Jeep engine ever, there are thousands of happy 3.8 Jeep owners. I'd be inclined to bite the bullet and go straight to a LS swap. I will give you a build thread title. "Making a silk purse out of a sow's ear".

    Oil Level Confusion

Best time to check the oil is after it has sat on a level surface for some time. It holds six quarts.

    JK driveshaft u-joint replacement

I see the JK drive shafts have a CV joint and U-joint. I know how to replace the CV joint. It appears the u-joint is not secured with clips, rather it looks like the metal has been peened to hold it in place. Do we just force out the old u-joint and peen the metal after installation of a new...

    Doing the unthinkable

Selling the TJ and going to JK? Reminds me of the movie Tropic Thunder. YOU NEVER GO FULL RETARD! Everyone must learn regret at some point I suppose. So when is your coming out party? All ribbing aside, expand your search out of the rust belt. If the rig has been a few years in salt, the...

    Recommendations on clutch replacement

My National TOB and Luk clutch kit is working fine and quiet. I also used a Luk flywheel. Some say replacing the flywheel is not necessary.

    Recommendations on clutch replacement

Don't trust the Luk throw out bearings, their flywheels, clutch discs and pressure plates are great however. I luckily ordered a National throw out bearing when I ordered the Luk kit. The Luk TB was milled off-center which gave it an unusable elliptical orbit. I'm not sure if this holds true...

Support group for those in dire need

There could be another forum here for those unfortunate individuals recovering from the stigma of having had an angry bird grill on their Jeep. A support group if you will, to assist you past the oppressive grief and embarrassment and onward towards full recovery where you can once again show...

    Maybe Moving On

Start with a picture of your "minimal chassis rust" The rest may be irrelevant. As everyone knows, plowing snow in NJ is a great way to keep rust off.

Wandered over here from the TJ forum

My son's TJ has been totally trouble free for 7 years straight. I helped him install a small lift on it. Well, I installed the lift and he watched with feigned interest.

Wandered over here from the TJ forum

I came here because I help friends wrench on their JK's all the time. All good stuff. My TJ has a secure spot in the garage. Besides, who would recover all the JK's when they get stuck in the dunes? In truth, the JK is a very solid rig and surely it is a more civilized street performer. My...

    Thinking about adding wheel spacers

Back spaced rims are probably a better option. Jeeps demand a monthly tithe from your income anyway. Why fight it?

I'm happy with my TJ. If I get another Jeep, it might be a XJ.

    Automatic transmission downshift issues

Mystery solved. The hood insulation was sagging and blocking the intake which made the squeal sound and for whatever reason made it not shift. Fixed the insulation and it shifts fine.

Wandered over here from the TJ forum

My names is Art and I have a 03 TJ, wife has a JL MOAB. I have friends and a son with JKs and I end up tinkering on them often.

    Automatic transmission downshift issues

My buddy just called me, his 2012 JK automatic does not downshift when he hits the gas pedal. It only downshifts when he lets off the gas. Is there a solenoid or linkage as likely culprit? TIA. <break> I just looked at it, fluid level is fine, replaced last year as well. It stays in gear...
