What jack for oversize tires?

Those of you with oversize tires, what jack are you using? New to me JK came with a totally rusted scissor jack so I'm looking. Jeep has 35" tires so I'm looking for a bottle or scissor jack that has enough "reach" to be able to raise the jeep high enough to slip on a new tire. I'm just not seeing anything tall enough (not looking at hi-lift jacks).

In all my previous vehicles I've carried a piece of 2x6 for a base. I could carry two pieces to have a base of 4" but cargo space in my 2dr is scarce as it is, without stacking wood back there.

Suggestions?

The OEM jack is junk and you're better off without it.

I don't know why you're not looking at high lift jacks. They really are your best option on the trail. And they can double as a recovery tool if you don't have a winch. And storage is a non-issue. There are a bazillion storage options.

At home, any decent floor jack will work.

I gave up on Hi-lift (farmers jack) couple years ago. Dangerous, precarious (even in a flat garage), heavy and cumbersome. And they can’t max out a lifted JK suspension, so what’s the point?

I use a HF 8ton bottle jack with an extension seat for axels and 2x8s for a base. Used it in the garage and on the trail, trust it in both cases better than a hi-lift. Need a tire change? Easy. Need to lift a tire to get unstuck? Easy. Need something you can tuck under a seat? Easy.

I do own a Hi-lift. Last time I used it was to de-bead my tires😆. Also like the off-road floor jack styles. Expensive and still rather large.

As a couple members mentioned Bottle Jack . Doesn’t take up a lot of real estate and a lot more durable , stronger and reliable than the scissor Jack .
I’m on the fence about hi lifts. Some swear by them,
Some swear at them .

Yeah, I've used bottle jacks for previous vehicles but they were cars and didn't have oversize tires. I'm just not finding any that I'm thinking have a high enough reach. It's looking like I'll just have to stack some 2x6s. I see some companies make extensions but, damn, they're expensive.

One thing to remember you’ll be Jacking up under the axle .
Seen some larger bottle jacks over the years with relatively high capability

So I bought an 8 ton bottle jack from Harbor Freight. Supposed to extend to 17 5/8" but I measured it at 18". Should be plenty when placed atop a 2x6.

Didn't come with a case or anything. I need to find a drawstring bag or something to keep out the trail dust. Also, the base is too wide to store it down in the "well" where the previous scissor jack was.

There's just not a lot of room in a 2dr to store all my shit. The thought just struck me....maybe there's a molle panel I can hang off the back of the rear seat to store stuff. Amazon, here I come!! 💸💸💸

There are a bazillion storage solutions on Amazon, including molle panels for the rear and above the front seats, bags that strap to the roll cage, etc. You can also consider putting on a roof rack and getting some bins. Or one of those hitch mounted carriers.

Internal capacity is partly why both our Jeeps are Unlimiteds.
