Hi! I recently bought a 2010 Jeep JKU Sport. I am lifting it 2.5” inches and want to put 35s on. I’m having trouble finding tires. I preferably want to spend under 1000 on a set of 4 Mud Tires. I have local shops offering HiCountryHM1s, MudderTruckers, and Thunderer TRAC Grip tires all for around 800-900$ for a set of 4. Does anyone know if these are good tires? I don’t plan on off-roading very much and just need tires for driving around my city with pretty minimal highway driving. Thank you!

I don't know much about any of those Brands but I can tell you this depending on what gears you have there's a good chance you'll have to regear. Then after regearing and the 35's you'll have to get your speedometer recalibrated, J-Scan is the easiest way to do that.

Also going to a 35" tire you'll need wider wheels if you want the tires to last.

Is regearing absolutely necessary? I’ve seen lots of builds do fine without regearing and I’m not sure I wanna pay the huge cost of regearing. I do have an automatic btw. My aftermarket wheels also gave 4.25” of backspacing.

I do know that if you have 3.21 gears you will need to. Put your VIN number in this link and it will tell you what you have.

I like the aggressive look. I’m just not sure if cheap tires are a good idea since I don’t have much knowledge

The initial price is cheap for a reason. You’ll generally be replacing them much quicker that a quality brand. Prepare for the howl with ‘em too. Add an amp to your stereo.

Take a gander at the Nexen Roadian MTX. Had them on mine when I bought it. Seemed ok.

I generally don’t drive a whole lot of miles per year. I have drove 1500 miles in the past half year in my Jeep.

You could get away with 35's for a DD then, unless you have a lot of hilly roads.
There isn’t a whole lot. I mainly just drive under 50mph. I very rarely will go on the highway. How will I need to accelerate with this gear ratio combo? Also will I be able to do beginner off-roading a couple times a year

Looking to run this on my current Jeep. We live at 1100 elevation. Is it doable and safe? Don’t want to regear.

I had TreadWright M/T Guard Dogs then went with Thunderer TRAC Grip after the dogs wore down. Had um on my Wj. They were really good in the mud and snow. Not so good in sand. Even when aired down to 16psi they weren't impressive. I had gotten them from Walmart. Had them in my cart for weeks and then they went on Roll Back so I snatched um up for cheap!

You might consider looking at the prices for 315/70/R17s. Almost the same size as 35s but I'm finding they're cheaper. I'm looking at Toyo Open Country AT IIIs and 315s are about $60 cheaper per tire on TireRack.

Here's a comparison on tiresize.com:

It would be a mistake not to re-gear.

Can you live with it without re-gearing? Sure, it won't harm anything but it's going to suck to drive.
I do also plan on doing performance mods I forgot to mention. Plan on putting a throttle body spacer, high end performance cold air intake, a axle back muffler delete, and a spare tire delete to reduce weight. Wont these help?
