Hello Jeep World. Long story short, I ended up with a blown engine on my 15’ JKU. I’ve always dreamt of a DYI hemi swap project and I think this is my chance to make it happen. A 5.7 hemi would do. While I know it can be costly, I need some guidance as to where to even start looking for an engine ? Do I look at a car junk yard ? Or buy a hemi swap engine kit online? Also, if you guys know of anyone who has done it before and can link me to a list of parts and prices for what they needed ? I currently have 35’s that I plan to keep and also will be adding a 2.5 in lift. Other than that i want to basically have everything I need at the lowest cost possible and not pay for extra parts that I don’t need to make the build possible. Thanks guys. Much appreciated.

If it were me I might try looking at Copart for a wrecked vehicle with the Hemi in it. At least that way you'll know it wan beforehand and you'll also get the entire front and and any pieces / parts you may need.

Novak Adapters will have all the parts you need for the conversion. Heck, if you contact them they can also build you a turnkey package with the engine and transmission and every single part you'll need for the swap and ship it to your house on a crate. It won't be cheap but it's worth asking about.

Like you said, this swap won't be cheap at all, but if you have the money Novak is a good way to go!

My previous car was an '08 R/T Charger that I bought brand new.
I can only imagine how that 345hp motor would wake the JK up.

Good luck with your plan, I hope it works so I can see it!

It depends on your skills (bare block rebuild?) and your budget. Personally, I'm not a big fan of buying a used engine with an unknown history. If I bought a salvage yard engine, the first thing I'd do is strip it to a bare block, so why bother? I'll just buy a block (if I want to build something special) or buy a crate engine (if the performance level I want is available as a crate).
