Nothing in the resources section on the go to spark plug recommendation for the 3.6.

Go a 2012 JK and a Dorman oil cooler should arrive tonight... seeing as how I will have the intake off I might as well do plugs...talk me into new coils if you want...

Just did the clutch at 156k miles and it's original. My guess is the plugs and coils are original too.

Champion? NGK? Platinum? What's the running consensus on the best plug for these engines?

Anything else I should do while I'm in the valley of the beast?

I use NGK in the Vette, but I am going to switch to Denzo. The NGK has a denser iridium, which means longer life, while the Denzo trades lifespan for bigger spark. The Vette is about performance; going 100,000 miles between plug changes is just not a consideration.

I used Champions in her Rubi, and I have not yet changed the plugs in mine. You can't go wrong with either brand, really, but I do think NGK has the edge when you're pushing for max power in a heavily modified engine. When I swap them in my Rubi, I'll use whichever of those brands is cheaper the day I buy.

Coil packs are expected to last "up to" five years or 120,000 miles. You're 5 years and 36,000 miles over that. Given that, and since you have the engine torn down anyway, it really doesn't make any sense not to replace them as well.

For the "OEM IS THE ONLY OPTION" crowd, it's worth remembering that between them, NGK and Champion provide virtually all OEM plugs. Just make sure you get the right plug and gap them correctly and you'll be fine.

Dropped ours off today at a local shop. They are doing some work under warranty and we just hit 100K on it. Having them replace plugs and coils since part of the labor is under warranty 😁. Personally while it‘s apart I figure have them both (plugs and coils) done.
