Hi everybody, I hope you all made it through a couple of bad years OK. Will a 2006 4.0 l 6-cylinder bolt up to a Wrangler NAGl 5 speed Automagic Transmission? Or do they make a adapter to mate them together. And where is the best place to get 1. Thanks funnnyfarm

You my friend have a TJ, the previous model to the JK. TJs were built from 1995ish - 2006. So you do have the last model year of that design.
JKs are from 2007 - 2018 model years.
Here is a link to the sister page that deals with that variant. Many here have TJs as well, so someone may know.

I think he has a JK with that transmission and is wanting to put a 4.0 engine in it.

thanks for the info MacGuyver. what I am really doing, I have a 2014 wangler rubicon. I really love my rig unfortunately the 3.6 V6 has the cam follows bearings have a little ticking. I know the day is coming I will have to address this problem. So far I have checked out an engine from Jasper Engines, About 6,000.00. The 2006 4.0 l engine is a great engine, about 3,000.00 enough power and dependable. Next going to see about the 3rd gen 3.6 V6 if there is to much differants. I am Just doing some investigating or thinking outlaid. Thanks probably be in touch again. funnnyfarm

My buddy is in the process of doing a built big turbo VW TDI swap in his Jeep.

Most states won't let you put an older engine into a vehicle. Newer one is just fine.

Best advice I've ever seen is the hardest thing to do is Jeep parts into other Jeeps.

I'd get a reman 3.6, rebuild yours, LS or Hemi swap it before I'd even think about a 4.0.

And I love my 4.0 in my TJ...but our JK is quieter, has more power and gets better gas mileage.
