Howdy Everyone. New member and first time JK owner. I bought a used 2015 this past weekend. Only one key and its the kind that has a transponder with rubber tan color cover. it's not one of those big FOBs. Trying not to have to pay the expensive dealer costs for the key and programming. Anyone on the forum have any recent experience obtaining replacement key and having it programmed somewhere for less than $100? Couldn't locate anything on searches in past posts. Thank you!

I bought a blank transponder key for my 07 Rubi for 7.95. Locksmith cut it for 10.00. Used my JScan Jeep app to program myself in about 3 minutes. Works like a charm. Got the blank key from Car & Truck remotes. Check into the JScan setup if your new to the Jeep world. It is awesome and one of the best investments you can make

Get a good OBDII reader, the JSCAN app, and a key with the same FCC code as yours, and you can program it yourself.
IF you make sure that it has the same FCC code, then the remote start will work, if equipped.
How do you know if it has the same FCC code? Maybe that is my issue. I programmed one and the remote start, lock / unlock alarm won’t work. The alarm stops after you put the key in and turn it. Jeep runs fine with the key, other functions don’t work.

On the OEM key fob, the FCC number is embossed on the back cover, right below the part number. However, this tends to rub smooth over a period of time. The aftermarket fobs I purchased a couple months ago have the FCC number on the inside of the cover.

That being said, I didn't need a new key as much as I needed a new cover, as the originals had worn down. So I ordered 2 new keys and simply swapped the covers, putting a new battery and the old circuit card in the new fob. No reprogramming necessary, even though I have the JScan.

I got my replacement key off Amazon . Alarm , Remote Start, Door lock & unlocking works .
