Phone mounts recommendation and opinions

I have no experience with that particular product, but I agree with your overall assessment. They're pretty much all junk.

I do have one of THESE in the garage, awaiting installation. I do not think it will turn out to be junk. It is SOLID. And the mounting apparatus are identical to those used to hold $10,000 dive cameras and lights. My plan is to run the cables up inside the dash, so there are no dangly wires.

Does anyone have opinions on the offroad aesthetics multi mount phone mount?

Phone mounts always turn out to be junk. Hoping someone has some thoughts

That's the same place I have my CB mic mounted. My passengers usually always bump it. My wife hates it. I had the Rugged Ridge dash kit. Didn't care for it. I now am using a rear view mirror mount but have it mounted to my grab handle. I like that my phone is right at eye level and I can easily see Google maps if need be.

I actually have a similar version and think it’s a great mounting location. Away from everything but close enough to reach if needed….. I must have several phone mounts that have turned out to be trash but this one has held up nicely surprisingly…

If you have grab bars this one works great. Up out of the way but easy to reach. Found it while searching for motorcycle phone mounts on Amazon.

That's where I have mine mounted too.

My problem with that one is that I absolutely hate anything that obstructs even a little wind of visibility. I know that's not something most people care about, but it would make me nuts.
It’s not as bad as the ones that stick up on top of the dash In the middle of the windshield.

I think that depends on exactly which mount and exactly where. At the dash, it may block your view of a small portion of your hood. Not a big deal. At the top, it may block your view of something you actually want to see.

The bulletpoint mount I have is very adjustable. It doesn't impede vision in any way. Now, obviously, you could move the phone anywhere you want (even adding extensions) and you could even put it horizontally, 2" in front of your face, and obstruct pretty much 100%. But if someone does that, it's just proof that Darwin was right. I like it because it is rock solid, there is no concern about phones bouncing around the interior (after 40 years in the ER, I see unsecured objects in a vehicle as projectile weapons), it doesn't obstruct anything, and it keeps the wiring contained.

There are no doubt other good solutions for other people, this is simply my view (see what I did there?) on what works best.

Agree. Even a tiny bit of additional view loss around the A pillar is a problem. There is reason to think that many vehicle/pedestrian problems are related to the A pillar blocking visibility and the driver not checking.

This is the one I have as well. Installed it 3-4 years ago and I love it. For me, perfect line of sight without obstructing anything.

I also have this one and really like it. Holds my phone in sight and out of the way. Also holds my Garmin gps unit when needed.

I have been using the Bulletpoint solution and the MULTI-MOUNT FOR JK for about a year and they are both great. The multi-mount kit did get a little loose and I had to disassemble and tighten it up about a month ago.
In the picture, the tablet and Garmin Inreach (orange) are attached to the Bulletpoint solution. The phone on the right is in the multi-mount kit attached under the passenger grab bar.
The Garmin GPS is attached to the windshield. The mirror is a dashcam with a rear camera mounted near the spare tire on the back.

Do you ever get a “Driving while distracted is dangerous “ warning ? LOL
Ha... no. I was concerned the tablet would be distracting but it was just out of line of vision and easy to access. The Bulletpoint mount is really easy to adjust to right where things need to be. I have since drilled a hole in the multi-mount and added another ram mount so I can hang the GMRS mic from it down below the grab bar.

Yes that is busy! Also noticed it seems you have the same radio I had. For some reason it just would go haywire, wanting to give me random directions to places, jumping all over the place and freeze up. It was a little clitchy since we bought the Jeep. Just replaced it with a JVC CarPlay system.
