Spent 2+ hours on a Kansas highway at night the other day. By the time we got home, visibility was an issue. Any suggestions, other than frequent stops to clean?

People will poop on these, but I've had 'em on an Expedition, 2 Tahoes and 2 Jeeps and they do work to an extent. They're not going to keep everything off the windshield, but they are fairly effective.

And, okay, I'm not trying to be a smart-ass or anything but how do you drive "at night the other day?" Do you start during the day and it goes to night or does the sun not go down in Kansas and you just call it night after 8PM or so?

Nevermind- jus' messin' with ya. ;)

Outside of buying racing-style tear off's :ROFLMAO:, you are going to have to clean periodically. I have found that waxing the windshield makes a big difference, as does Rain-X. In either case, the washer fluid and wipers should be able to get most of the death off while you are driving if you have treated the windshield.

Let us know if you figure anything out.

I tried the bug deflector and I think I got more hitting the window.

Now I just use the bug away wiper fluid. It's ok, but the best I've found is to get them super fast. The last road trip I did, the passengers job was to call out bugs as they hit the windshield so I could spray and wipe before they fused to the window.

Hey Man. I bought this JK beast to drop the shield in a once blue moon. So that that being communicated, were goggles and pretend The Rat Patrol like me SGT Sam Troy. M Bike Helmet no good up hear in the spring. Fun and Games.

I never found any solution. There is a stretch on US 97 south of Klamath Falls which can get so bad at certain times of the year that you stop every couple of miles. Actually a visibility issue after two hours is not bad as far as driving through agricultural regions goes. Maybe carry an extra gallon of windshield cleaner, reload as needed.

Off topic now. First late fall when I had my JK in 2010. My Hunt Club convinced me to strip her all down and drop the wind shield. We were Moose hunting and it was 15F out. On the way to my watch I Damn near froze to death, brrrrrrr, no bugs though.
