Hello everyone new to the jk world and have an issue with the wife's jeep.
13 wrangler sahara slight lift 86k MT
Under acceleration (2 through 5 especially) it makes a sound like gears that are too tight together. It shifts fine it drives fine. Just sounds like, she says a mack truck, don't know really how to put it. Its not constant either, mostly when cool out first drive of the day.

Things done
All fluids changed
Left front wheel bearing replaced (it was tight)

Again when she drives to work it does it. Coming home didn't do it.
But in my t/s I have found i can hear it slightly still when warmed up. Any help would be appreciated
Thanks Z

I have a manual trans also and I don't notice any different noises when it's cold. Normally if there is a problem with the transmissions they make more noise when they are warmed up.

Have you ever rode with her so you can listen to the noise?

Ok so update put the amsoil synchromesh in and still makes the noise. There is no rhyme or reason to it other than 1st drive of the day it makes the most noise. Sometimes it goes away by the time for the drive home and sometimes it doesn't. It resonates from the manual gear shift.

I would think that if it was something major wrong with it you would have shifting issues or it would pop out of a gear.

Correct it shifts and drives normal HOWEVER when you have a wife with OCD it drives her crazy !!!! In turn she drives me crazy lol.
Also it seems only to be happening when accelerating. More so in 2 and 3 under the gas, when coasting or holding at speed its there but quieter. She was in an accident with it she was hit in left front wheel and a little behind it. I have replaced the left front wheel bearing and drove it with the front drive shaft out. Still made the noise. I was hoping that it was a u joint or something but that was no help. Havent taken out the rear drive shaft yet. That will be next. Dont know if the accident is what caused it or not, she states it does. But I'm not sure it is just a coincidence.

Have you inspected the rear driveshaft U-joints?

What noise is made when the cv joint on the drive shaft is worn out? Or how about the t case when worn out?
