Touch Screen Upgrade

I tried a similar small, direct fit touchscreen and wasn't thrilled with it. It was not CarPlay/Android Auto capable though. I also had an issue with how the adapter brackets filled the extra space, it just was a clean look.
I ended up going with a 10.1 display that had the dash "restyle" kit. Looks super clean, gets rid of the dash warp between the power window controls and the head unit. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08BFN6K7S/?tag=jkforum-20

The only issue was that the large frame piece(replaces dash around instrument cluster) had a broken tab. Amazon sent me a replacement, and it had the same broken tab. Might not have impactedthe install, but I contacted the company and they're sending a replacement that should be here in a few days.

It will do CarPlay, I'm an Android user though, so I'm not sure how the interface is with Apple. I'm also not very computery, so still working through how to get all the bells and whistles to do what I want.

You'll want the Android Auto feature then. The CarPlay is for Apple devices.

Reviving an old thread to see how you still feel about this radio...
Also, I'm not real clear on the dash piece... in my '15, the radio surround and the gauge bezel are all one piece & this appears to be just a replacement for the center area around the radio.

No. You do get the dash for the cluster and the radio. I'd like to know feedback on this radio. This is what I was thinking of getting too.

I don't have either of these but I've had an android h/u in two Jeeps for 5-6 years. The unit I currently have is a Dasaita 10" restyle unit. It replaces part of the dash as @JeepJeezy said. Mine is an Android 9 and it starting to show it's age. It is not nearly as nice as a $1300 android auto unit, but it does sound much better than the stock (non-premium) stereo and offers sooo much customization for apps that are useful. Spotify, Waze, iHeart radio, multiple OBD2 apps like jScan and Torque Pro... basically ANY Android app - including Android Auto (if you want). I can also integrate it with my ham radio and Backcountry Navigator

What I will warn you of, with ANY Android unit (especially the less expensive ones) is that you HAVE to be willing to fiddle with it to dial it in. Mostly Bluetooth and WiFi can be troublesome, but you want to buy from someone that has support after the sale. If you are not technical and/or just want it to "work", call Crutchfield.

I would also recommend Crutchfield . They had some units made by BOSS. Price ranged from
250-500 USD. When checked yesterday again the $250 unit was gone . But all did Apple CarPlay and Android. Some of the units included back up camera . Some were double din so slide in direct replacemt .A few others had a larger "floating screen" . The reviews were mostly positive .

Westcoastdan. Just a friendly recommendation . This thread is well over a year old. It is better to start a new one as the OP to this thread had 2 posts and is in the wind . I understand you had a question for one of the posters in the thread so just PM them if it's been over a year .Usually when thread is at the top it's presumed relatively new.. Unless Sticky . It's what I thought at first . But than looking again had to waste time editing etc to eliminate original OP's question . But my recommendation would still apply to yourself . Let us know what you end up with .
