Hi all,

I've got a 2014 JKU Rubicon and am having an odd issue. If I step hard on the gas for it starts to go but when the rpms reach start getting high, it kind of chokes out and bogs down until I let the foot off of the gas and then start easing it back in. It threw a code for this this past week and I'm trying to find out what my issue is. I started off by replacing the air filter, but when that didn't work I replaced the MAP sensor. I had then cleaned the Throttle body, then eventually replaced the entire throttle body as well in case the built-in TPS sensor was the issue. However, I keep having this issue and can't figure out what is going on. Any ideas?

According to this it could be a vacuum leak also

Are you using the stock air box or a CAI, here's the exact same problem and same year as yours. I found this in another Forum he says what the dealer did to fix his problem if your using the stock air box. For some reason the links won't open so what the dealer found out the guy said was the hoodliner was being sucked over the intake on the air box. The picture he showed the Dealer cut down across the front of the opening on the airbox's intake so that it was below the radiator support.

I have a stock air box. Also did that link right? It seems to be bringing me to a page of mechanics rather than a story about this issue.

I owe you a beer, that was exactly the issue and I see why now as well. The top hood liner is sagging a bit over time so when I step on the gas hard it sucks the liner down over the small air intake opening since a part of the opening already seals to the hood when it's closed.

Adding the picture from the link you posted here for anyone else who stumbles upon this same issue and this post.

Okay, glad you guys got it solved, and more importantly, thanks for the update / solution.

I like when threads like this have happy endings, because someone is going to stumble upon this in the future, and it makes it so much better when there's an actual solution posted (y)

Thank you for the solution to this post! This had been an ongoing problem over the last month. You were spot on, the hood pad is being sucked down over the air filter housing inlet under heavy acceleration. Removed hood pad as a test and problem no longer occurs.
