I haven't been driving my '16 JK a whole lot this past month or so, but the last few times I've driven it, I noticed the voltage is higher than normal (14.8-14.9v), but no codes yet. It's been too frickin' cold for me to properly troubleshoot (unheated garage, if I could get in there), so I've been surfing the forums to see what others have experienced. My troubleshooting will start with the connections between the batt and the PCM, and grounds, but I found a "Big 7" upgrade kit - never knew such a thing existed. I've made cables in the past, and upgraded my CJ & XJ's starter and ground cables, but never did all of these. The price of the kit doesn't seem too bad for what it is, but running the cables in a JK seems like it would be a PITA. Still, it might be a worthwhile upgrade.

Anyone have any experience with JeepCables.com?

Dang! How'd I miss that??? I'll check it out.

Back to my issue, any thoughts on overvoltage other than a voltage drop somewhere causing the PCM to drive the alternator?

If it was on a cold start I could see that as normal mine will do that for about a minute. And it's been cold here.

That may be it... as I said, no codes and I'm north of you so it's definitely been chilly. Also, I have torque running additional gauges including a voltmeter on my android headunit so it may be I never was aware of this in the past.

I even noticed it on my 96 F350 the other day when I started it, it has 2 batteries and my charging volts were 15.3 for a couple minutes.

Mine has been doing the same thing since the cold set in. Not every day but some days. After it runs for a little bit it drops back down to low 14 to 14.5. The cold is just harder on the batteries and I think the system just needs to charge a little higher to get it back up to where it should be. I monitor and see what happens.

I checked mine with Jscan and I was showing 14.8 this morning. It was 30°F outside.
