Any thoughts on on what would be causing a clunking noise when hitting bumps? Sounds like it’s coming from the rear.

Have tried to track it down some, haven’t checked the control arm, shock, or track bar bolts because I noticed it tonight, but looking for ideas.

I jacked up the rear and kicked the rear tire and heard a slight clunk, but I don’t know if that would be causing me to hear it inside the cab while driving down the road. Only happens when I hit a bump in the road.

Driveshaft, heat shield, control arms, track/sway bar....could be a lot of things. You install anything recently or do any work back there?

Probably a worn out bushing or something loose.

Well….I think I found the culprit…..

As dumb as it sounds…there was a big rock stuck between the exhaust heat shield and the body. Every time I hit a bump, it would jump up and hit the body causing a big clunk. 😂😂 Sometimes it’s the smallest things.

Occupational hazard haha

I had a sound in the back like that and it turned out to be be the tailgate. Stock hinges were beginning to fail. Replaced them and all's better.

Of course that wasn't before I spent money on other things first.
Trying the stock hinge replacement today. Signs of rust and corrosion in the factory hinges. Going to give these a try since they seem to be well reviewed and have stainless pins.

Anyone else have any luck with these hinges?

Those are the best repairs to have, quick fix and didn't cost you a dime. Just a little of your time. Also you are now more familiar with the underside of your Jeep.

Yep, those are the ones, at least in appearance, that I installed. Mine have a grease zert, I can't tell if those amazon ones do as well. It took longer than anticipated for me to do the swap for the simple reason I discovered rust under the old hinges, so I had to sand and paint before the re-install.
