New 2013 Wrangler Unlimited Sport Owner With Questions

I have a some questions. I previously owned an XJ and man what a difference going to a Wrangler. My questions ...

A: Should I be nervous considering it has 130k because I truly don't know the longevity of these Jeeps? I'm technically the second owner, clean VIN, and in really nice shape. Well maintained.

B: Drove the Jeep home from the dealership from Brighton, Co to southern Colorado Springs roughly 100 miles. It would over heat at highway speeds in cruise control. Dropped it back down to 70ish and the temp stabilized.

Other odds and ends:

Tire pressure sensor front driver side not working, carpet driver side missing (easy to replace?), and should I replace the factory hood latches because I've heard the scary stories.

Welcome aboard! I feel your trepidation. I went from an older Wrangler (previous gen) to the JKU.

Overheating is most likely a failing thermostat or temp sensor. Though not showing a code makes me question my own suggestion. Regardless, changing the thermostat or sensor is a very easy job. Sensor was easier for me since I have aftermarket fenders. But still a DIY for most people. There's a few good videos on YouTube. Burping the system for me was, fortunately, superbly easy and likely will be for you as well.

As for the tire sensors- I disabled mine using an AEV module:

I'm currently holding the dealership accountable and have taken the Jeep in for a bumper to bumper inspection via my personal mechanic including the over heat issue. The dealership pretty much told me to send them the bill which is awesome. Normally I would do the repairs myself, but considering I've only owned it for a day the dealership sounds like they're willing to resolve the minor issues. I'm just worried about popping head gaskets. Don't know the motor very well, but I hear it's pretty reliable.

Glad to hear the dealer is taking care of those little things for you.

First thing I'd do is all the fluids too, transfer case, tranny, diffs, etc etc. Probably worth it to drop the oil pan and the transmission pan to replace filters and make sure nothing's in there that shouldn't be.

Lot of people replace the JK hood latches with the JL oem ones to maintain that stock look if that's what you're after.

Armorlite makes an amazing flooring system if you're looking into replacing your carpet. I love mine and it excels in that snowy/muddy situation. It's more like a rubbery texture and is removes the need for floor mats. In fact they mention you shouldn't use floor mats with their carpet replacement. Great fitment too and drain plugs are very accessible making it a breeze to hose out any mess. Doesn't get stinky like carpet can if it gets wet. Honestly I can't say enough good things about it. Very non-slip.

Not super cheap, but not much more expensive than a carpet that you might have to replace again if it gets wet.

You don't have to pull the seats, I was just doing a bunch of stuff at the same time.

I wouldn't worry about the 130k mileage, these are pretty reliable, just follow the above advice and your manual (write it down in the manual when you do it) and change the fluids unless you have a record of it being done. I think a bunch of them were supposed to be done around 100k
